I used to pass Mad Egg on Charlotte Way for years, observing as the queues spilled out into the street. I always wondered: was the food that amazing? Was all the buzz worthwhile? My interest soon got the better of me, and what had initially been a simple trip for a chicken burger became a full-on quest.
I decided to check out not one, but four Mad Egg Dublin outlets to see if the hype was real. Also, wanted to know if Mad Egg was just a one-time gem or a go-to spot for comfort food. From crunchy chicken to fluffy waffles, here’s my tasty journey, and the verdict on whether this trendy chain truly deserves its reputation.
Mad Egg – Charlotte Way
I’ve walked past this joint for years, and today I finally ventured inside and gave it a try—and am I ever happy that I did! Mad Egg at 2 & 3 Charlotte Way enjoys a very high 4.6-star rating on Google (2,261 reviews) and a 4.1 on TripAdvisor (240 reviews). It’s quickly become a place that I’d gladly return to, and it’s a great option for anyone who requires a mellow and trendy place to grab a bite.
Mad Egg is so unique due to the environment and the food. The wrap that I ordered was very fresh, full of flavor, and delectable. The drink menu could have been slightly broader, and the glass could have been cleaner, but those were minor issues compared to how much I enjoyed the food.

The burger, with a whole chicken breast filet and nice sauce, was great too. Although the fried oil taste was a bit too dominant (we ate late at 8 pm, so maybe the oil got burnt), it’s still worth trying. I might still prefer Bunsen for a burger, but Mad Egg has much to offer.
The staff was also polite and told me all about the things when I went there for the first time, which was great. The place was quite quiet, so it was a perfect place to sit and chat with my friend after we had eaten. The staff and waiters were very respectful, and no one asked us to vacate early, although we sat there for an hour chatting.
I would also highly suggest ordering the Mac & Cheese side. The size is so large that I would suggest sharing one between two. There are plenty of great dishes on the menu, and I’m already planning on going back to try more. You can book a table by calling them on +35319123492.
Mad Egg – Liffey Valley
For my second experience at Mad Egg Dublin, I visited their Liffey Valley branch, and the same high standard was maintained. Boasting a sterling 4.7-star Google rating (1,365 reviews) and 2.5 on TripAdvisor (6 reviews), this restaurant is a true gem for a comfort food dining experience.
For my money, the chicken and waffles are the best and the best I’ve had in all of Ireland, and that’s coming from a person from Miami! The atmosphere here is great, it’s just so friendly, warm, and vibrant. It’s the perfect spot to indulge in a comfort meal in a relaxed fashion, yet it’s also perfectly suited to a business lunch.

I love the big window and good lighting. I dined in on Valentine’s Day, so the food arrived in about 35 minutes, which is completely understandable. The service was superb, and they were extremely detail-conscious. I opted to pass on the sweet Belgian waffle tower, which was cooked to a perfect crisp, the tender chicken, and a rich caramel sauce.
It was just phenomenal. They also have a rewards program that I highly recommend you become a part of, so you can get freebies and discounts. I haven’t tried anything else on the menu yet, but I definitely will! My experience was a solid 10/10.
I would highly recommend the chicken with their specialty chicken seasoning. The ambiance is great, and you can book a table by calling them at 019123498.
Mad Egg – Millennium Walkway
For my third visit to Mad Egg Dublin, I visited the Millennium Walkway location. This spot is a winner, boasting an excellent 4.7-star rating on Google (2,546 reviews) and 4.3 on TripAdvisor (21 reviews). This top-drawer, casual dining-out with friends is just a few minutes’ journey from the bustling city centre.
I rang during a Monday lunch hour, and while it wasn’t that busy, which did impact the atmosphere somewhat, the staff made up for it. The fellow who greeted us was so proud to describe the menu and was friendly and attentive throughout lunch. Our server, Gary, was so friendly and accommodating, and Emily couldn’t have been more pleasant. Everything was fast and efficient, and we greatly appreciated the roll of paper towels on each table.

The food was completely delicious. My friend got the GOAT burger and crack tots, and they were great. The chicken was really juicy and had a wonderful coating. My sister got the Sweet Stack meal, and she liked it; the chicken was crunchy, the bacon was good, and the honey butter was different. The waffles were a bit too sweet alone, but worked well with the chicken and honey butter. My friend had the OG burger, which was generously sized, and the loaded fries were excellent, too. Even the drinks arrived in about five minutes.
While the prices were a bit higher, the quality of the food was good, and the servings were large enough to be suitable for lunch. I had a decent dining experience and would definitely recommend it. You can book by calling them at 019123493.
Mad Egg – Dundrum
For my final Mad Egg Dublin trip, I popped into the Dundrum store for the first time with my uncle the other day. With an impressive 4.8-star rating on Google (3,893 reviews) and a 3.4 on TripAdvisor (55 reviews), this place absolutely nails it. We enjoyed a right good lunch that was the ideal conclusion to this blog series.
The overall ambiance was very laid back. We sat outside at a table, soaked up the sun, and had a proper good chat. The atmosphere is tranquil and lively, so that you are utterly at home. A mention must go to the young Brazilian man who was serving us. He was a truly lovely guy, so chatty and friendly, and he made the experience even better. The service was prompt, cheerful, and friendly from beginning to end.

The food was the best part. I had The Heartbreaker (€14.50), which was dripping in cheese, jalapeño hot sauce, and pickles. Every bite was messy in the absolute best way and just perfect. It was so fresh and flavorful. My uncle had the Nashville Hot Tenders (€10.95), which were crispy and hot, served with comeback sauce and sriracha slaw. He was grinning from ear to ear with a Coke on the side.
Seriously, though, I’ll definitely be back. This place does not fail with great food, a relaxed vibe, and great service. Whether you’re a fried chicken addict or simply in need of a great spot to relax and have good grub, Mad Egg Dundrum is a great choice. You can book a table by calling them on +35319123491.
