I visited for brunch, and I had the pancakes and a cup of tea, while my friend had eggs, toast, and a flat white. Everything was fresh, delicious, and well presented. The pancakes were golden in color, light, and slightly sweetened. One bite and I understand why they’re so well known.

The vibe is casual and energetic, perfect for single coffee breaks, brunch with friends, or even a quick sweet treat during city sightseeing. I visited St. Patrick’s Day, and although there was a line down the street by 9:30, the line moved rapidly, and the staff were remarkably efficient.
I had the full Irish breakfast and was amazed at how fresh and delicious everything was. The omelets were ginormous-looking, shareable, and the pancakes were stunningly presented, chock-full of flavor with a chef’s kiss sauce on top. Hands down, some of the best pancakes in Dublin for the price and quantity.
Aside from pancakes, their cappuccino deserves a special mention too. For €4.50, you get a large-sized cup, and they did have non-fat milk as a choice. The flavor was smooth without tasting bitter, exactly what you want to get your day started.
Service was friendly despite the throng, and while the wait was a little bit too long, turnover was quick, and we were seated shortly. My sister wasn’t incorrect when she said that Alma in Portobello is one of the leaders in pancake passion. This Argentinian-inspired cafe has a whopping 4.7-star rating on both Google (1,600+ reviews) and TripAdvisor (100+ reviews), and it’s not hard to see why.
The space is bright, calm, and cozy, ideal for languid mornings, coffee dates for one, or catching up over weekend brunches. I was situated by the window on a sunny morning, flat white in hand, and the vibe was total relaxation.
I ordered their signature pancakes, and they were absolute perfection, light, fluffy, and golden. Topped with berries, cream, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and a drizzle of dulce de leche, they were decadent without being over the top. Possibly some of Dublin’s finest pancakes, without a doubt.

Despite the cramped space, they do manage to seat individuals effectively and keep the process moving without rushing the experience. The employees were friendly, prompt, and still attentive, even during the morning rush.
I ordered the skillet breakfast, and my companion a hearty plate of bacon. We also shared pancakes, mine stacked high with chunky bacon and maple syrup, and hers with strawberries and bananas. They were sweet, balanced, and decadently soft to the bite, easily among Dublin’s top pancakes.
Surprisingly, the standout star was the side of potatoes. Perfectly golden and crispy outside, warm and fluffy inside, they elevated the entire plate. The kind of flavor you remember long after the meal is over.

One Society is high on your to-do list if you’ve got the largest sweet tooth like me. At 1 Gardiner Street Lower, it’s a creditable 4.6-star Google rating (1,400+ reviews) and an astonishing 4.7 on TripAdvisor, and hence a brunch destination with students, locals, and tourists in equal measure.
It’s cozy and casual, great for dining with friends or having a brunch alone. It’s tiny, but the vibe is welcoming and the open kitchen sightline is a plus. Service was quick, and our server was friendly and attentive throughout.
I had the American pancakes with pineapple compote and fresh cream, and they were truly beautiful. Light, well-balanced, and beautifully presented, they fully deserve a spot among the best Dublin pancakes. My friends were also delighted; one had the maple syrup version, the other had the One Society Eggs and was delighted with the flavor.
We also tried the caramel pancakes, which were rich and sweet enough without needing extra syrup. Even with the bananas removed, the dish held its own with just the caramel. The sangria was refreshing, though I’d personally prefer it a touch sweeter.
Prices are reasonable, and the student discount is a great bonus. The kitchen is fast, and we were never made to feel rushed, even with a queue. It’s an excellent choice for weekend brunch or a midweek treat.

I’ve been stopping into Metro for quite some mornings now. It’s one of the only spots in the city center where the coffee’s always hot, the bar people know your order, and the food comes out in good time, no dawdling. Today I went with the trusty old favorite: pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Thick-cut rashers, just-cooked eggs, and a stack of pancakes so light they mop up the Meppel syrup like it’s about to be obsolete. They even leave the bottle on the table, no miserly measures here.
We also split the pancakes with fruit and honey butter, sweet, fragrant, and sufficiently full of a surprise. A cappuccino-sized switch to large was free with our breakfast order (nice touch), and the staff were as with-it as ever for all their work despite the morning rush.
For anyone who’s in the mood for an old-fashioned pancake fix with no frills, just plain grub, good vibes, and an easy central spot, Metro Café is a hard act to beat.

PÓG Tara Street
At 2 Kevin Street Lower, Portobello, D08 PÓG, Tara has a whopping 1,100+ glowing Google reviews and a 4.4-star rating. And hi to TripAdvisor’s modest 3.5 rating with 290+ reviews, this pancake house is so much more than a brunch establishment to us Dubliners.
Our visit became quite unforgettable. We began with Posh Eggs and an order of their Kinder protein pancakes, so tasty they should carry a warning. Finish it with fresh orange juice and avocado toast with levels of spice and crunch, and you’ve got a brunch worth sending postcards home for.
The real star of the morning? The care and kindness of the staff. We’d mentioned my mum’s birthday, and they went above and beyond to surprise her with candles and joy, she beamed, blowing out her 48th surrounded by love. Special thanks to Corinne, whose warmth and attentiveness turned a good meal into a heartwarming memory.

With near-unbeatable ratings on both Google (4.8) and TripAdvisor (4.8), Tang on Dawson Street is a tiny flavour and heart grenade. This diminutive nook packs a punch far greater than its size, and serves thoughtful, wholesome food to make even the coldest Dublin morning feel warm and fuzzy.
I went on a chilly February morning and ordered the vegan, gluten-free pancakes, and I haven’t been able to get them out of my head since. Imagine juicy pears and berries spilling across golden pancakes, soft in the center with a delicate crunch at the border. Topped with Greek yogurt, toasted pecans, honey, and a spoonful of house nut butter, they were transcendent.
We also exchanged eggs on toast and their renowned marinated mushrooms, all served alongside the creamiest oat milk coffee we’d yet experienced in Ireland. The staff? Total gems, welcoming, knowledgeable, and even left us hot water bottles to stay warm outside. Who does that? Tang does.
